About Us
Rebuilding Together Aurora began
in 1993 and is an affiliate of the national Rebuilding
Together organization. We are officially recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Our Mission:
To bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes of low-income homeowners so that they may live in warmth, safety and independance.
Our Vision:
A safe and healthy home for everyone.
Our Programs:
Rebuilding Together Aurora provides free home repair and rehabilitation services to low-income homeowners in Aurora.
We are focused on serving seniors, individuals with disabilities and families with children. Since 1993 we have rehabbed over 265 homes in Aurora.
Our services are provided through two programs: our April Rebuilding Event, which provides large scale repairs during a two-week “blitz” event held at
the end of April, and our year-round Handyman program, which provides smaller scale more immediate repairs to seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Through our programs, we are able to provide repairs including, but not linited to, roofing, plumbing, electrical, windows, painting,
landscaping, energy efficiency upgrades, ADA modifications, safety modifications and flooring. Repair work is done by skilled and unskilled volunteers and contractors.
Our Sponsors, members
of Churches, Civic organizations and local Businesses,
are given the opportunity
to match the skill level of their volunteers with
the work identified in a particular home. All volunteers,
be they
experienced trade professionals or someone
just willing to help,
work side-by-side in a grassroots effort designed to preserve affordable home ownership.
